Laishram Mahesh Singh shone with a hat-trick as Manipur got their campaign off to a flying start with a 4-1 win over Kerala in the Sub-Junior Boys' National Football Championship 2024-25 Tier 1 in Bengaluru on Saturday.
Manipur roared into action from the word go as Laishram Mahesh put ahead just five minutes into the game before Muktar Rehman doubled their lead in the 10th minute.
Mahesh then netted his second goal six minutes later to ensure Manipur took a commanding 3-0 lead at halftime.
Kerala narrowed the gap in the 47th minute through Asdidev Jayesh.
But it was Mahesh again who restored Manipur's three-goal cushion with his third goal in the 66th minute.
Manipur maintained their dominance throughout the remainder of the game, securing a resounding victory in their campaign opener.
Placed in Group B with Jharkhand, Gujarat and Kerala, Manipur will next play Gujarat on September 16, 2024 .
