Manipur outplay Assam in campaign opener

Manipur started their campaign on a winning note at the 68th National School Games U-14 Volleyball Championship 2024-25, which got underway on Tuesday at Amphitheatre Ground, Banaras Hindu University, in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
The state squad pulled off a 3-1 margin win over Assam in their campaign opener.
The match started strongly in Manipur's favour, as they dominated the first set with a commanding 25-12 score.
However, Assam mounted a spirited comeback in the second set, edging out a narrow 25-23 victory.
Manipur regained their momentum in the third set, delivering a decisive 25-18 performance.
The team sealed the match with a 25-16 triumph in the fourth set, underlining their superior gameplay and adaptability.
Manipur are competing against Uttar Pradesh, CBSE and Assam in Pool A .
They will be up against CBSE in their second match on December 11, followed by Uttar Pradesh on December 13 in the group stage.
As many as 32 teams are vying for the top honours.
The state squad is made up of Phanjoubam Ibobi Singh, Fundreimayum Rahish, Tongbram Khaba Singh, Mohd Anishar Khullakpam, Tongbram Morning Singh, Mayangmayum Sahinoor, Athokpam Ichikhunba Singh, Sojenezar Longjam, Oinam Nganba Singh, Bogimayum Sajad, Lanchenba Naorem and Laimayum Ronbinson Sharma.
