Martina Devi sets new record in weightlifting at Youth Games

Imphal, June 09 2022: M Martina Devi on Thursday created a new weightlifting record in the 4th Khelo India Youth Games after Manipur's medal run saw a lull on Wednesday.

Martina set the new record in the women's 81+ category in addition to winning the gold medal.

She lifted a total of 186kg (snatch - 81kg & jerk - 105kg) to make her mark in the weightlifting competition on the sixth day of the 4th Khelo India Youth Games at Panchkula in Haryana.

With the day's result, Manipur remain third in the medal table with 18 medals.

Nine gold and two silver medals in Thang-Ta form the major chunk of the state's medal haul, with two gold and one silver medals in cycling, one gold and one bronze in weightlifting, one gold in athletics, and one bronze in wrestling.

Haryana still top the medal tally with 33 gold, 27 silver and 36 bronze and Maharshtra trail behind with 30 gold, 28 silver and 25 bronze medals.
