Chandel Veteran Football: SS Mohring MT, Slumber Boots advance to semis

Imphal, June 08 2022: SS Mohring MT and Slumber Boots were able to seal their places in the last-four stage of the ongoing 2nd Veteran Football Tournament being underway at Mini Stadium, Chandel.

In the first quarter final match of the tournament, SS Mohring MT thumped Unapal FC 3-0 to confirm their semi-final ticket.

SS Mohring MT dominated the game from the opening half itself by stringing a series of incisive runs before HB Wangring netted twice in the 4th and the 21st minute to make it 2-0 before halftime.

Unapal FC who were clueless in the opening half conceded yet another goal when Ch Danny found a gap and cracked a clinical shot in the 48th minute.

SS Mohring, then held on to their lead till the final whistle to knock Unapal FC out.

SS Mohring will either play Chakpi Dreamers or Liwa Changning in the first semi-final on June 11 .

Meanwhile in the second quarter final match, Thangtha scored twice (32', 42') for Slumber Boots to salvage a 2-2 draw in the regulation time with The Veteran FC and stretched the game to a penalty shoot-out.

Earlier in the game, Mothawar (29') and Angpaul (35') scored a goal apiece to hand The Veteran FC a 2-1 lead till halfway.

In the penalty shoot-out, Joanand, Wakhuhring, Zion, Jamhring, Bengam and Thangtha made no mistake in sending home the ball from the spot but only TS Ngamhring, Lorish, Wellhring, Angpaul and Lining managed to find the target for the losing side.

Slumber Boots will take on either Lamkang Brothers FC or New Wangparal FC in the second semi-final match on June 11 .
