Imphal, July 07 2022: Yambem Dhanabir overcame K Poireikhomba Meitei in the seventh round of the ongoing 5th Khuraijam Ramnarayan Shastree Memorial Chess tournament to remain atop with 6.5 points.

In the second match of the 7th round, RK Bhogen beat N Herojit to stack up 6 points and go second in the tournament being organised in the Swiss league system for 9 rounds.

Kh Sanjoy also missed out on sharing second spot with RK Bhogen as he lost to Th Sunachand today.

With the result, Sunachand are now third with 5.5 points in his name.

The fourth match of the 7th round draw saw E Shashikanta (4.5 points) and S Lawrence (4.5 points) share spoils to rack up 5 points each before L Lalgopal clinched full point against Kh Kinison (4 pts) to amass 5 points.

Other players, securing five points after wins in the 7th round are Sadokpam Premjit who beat N Tokyo (4 pts); Ph Rajen who beat Kh Premchandra (4 pts), N Pari who beat L Shyamkishore (4 pts) .

The day also saw RK Sudhirsana beating Ngangwangkhu Khoisnam, O Ningthem beating Y Rishing Meitei, M Modhusudon beating S Herojit, RK Dutta beating Ronald Soibam, Rocky beating L Nobin and E Jeakson beating Dayanand Thoudam in their 7th round matches to collect 4.5 points each.

Meanwhile, Bit Irom beat O Kishorjit, M Dorendro beat Seram Indrajit, Jalesh Thoudam beat Shamulailatpam Anil Sharma, L Dorendrajit beat Amom Shyamkishore and M Yohenba Khuman bet Khuman Einstein Maibam to secure full points and rack up 4 four points each after seven rounds.
