MPSC top Group B with four wins on trot, assured of last 8 round berth

MPSC are on roll as they notched up its fourth consecutive win to top Group B and successfully become the first team to assure themselves a place in the last 8 stage of the 5th MNCA Plate Tournament 2019-20 .
MUVANLAI and SDC also posted wins in their respective group matches staged today.
Having beaten YUCC, YWC and KCC in the previous matches, MPSC earned their 4th win of the 6-team group competition today by beating KIYC, Kshetrigao by 5 wickets at Moijing playground.
KIYC, after winning the toss, decided to bat first but could set a total of 139 runs for 9 in 36.2 overs as P Bonem remained in form to disrupt the batting line up.
MPSC then chased down the target in 19.3 overs with a boundary in the last stroke.
Abdul Hamid hit the highest 41 for KIYC while Farhat and Kurban managed to score 23 runs respectively in this innings which saw P Bonem scalp four wickets and Saranthem Shangker clinch three.
Indraban also managed two wickets to help force KIYC fold their innings at 139 for 9.Though Sahir piled up pressure upon MPSC with his fine bowling in the chase runs gathered by Sunil 27, Bonem 35, Kennedy 21 and Indranban 25 (not out) were enough for MPSC to finish the chase on 143 in 19.3 overs with 5 wickets left to spare.
Sahir of KIYC finished with a best figure of 3 wickets for 31 runs in 5 overs while Abdullah and Rahim shared the remaining wickets.
Potsangbam Bonem who topscored with 35 in the chase after picking up 4 precious wickets in the KIYC innings was eventually named man of the match.
Meanwhile in the Group D league match staged at Model Higher Secondary and Oriental College ground, SDC, Laipham Khunou thumped CDC, Sagolband by 8 wickets riding on half centuries from K Subachandra (55 off 72 balls) and Rahul Chandra (61 off 60) after CDC set a target of 139 runs losing all the wickets in 36.1 overs.
S Pinky 22, Salam Agu 26 were the only significant contributors for CDC after they won the toss and opted to bat first.
K Kajal and N Kiran were furious bowlers of the SDC today as they claimed four wickets each and exert a considerable amount of pressure upon CDC line up.
The chase of SDC for 139 went smooth and was completed within 23.3 overs with 8 wickets left in the hand.
N Kiran who picked up four wickets for 18 runs in 6 overs was adjudged man of the match.
Elsewhere at Langthabal Public ground, MUVANLAI successfully defended their total of 152 runs for 10 in 37 overs by restricting PCC, Mayaikoibi to 143 all out in 35 overs.
It was MUVANLAI third victory in Group (A) competition in four matches.
MUVANLAI, after electing to bat first, rode on Nandakumar 20, Haolengou 43, James 38 to set up the modest target before Sanjay and Khaikhotinlal wreaked havoc across the batting line up of PCC by dismissing three wickets each.
Anand of PCC claimed three wickets while Ranjan and Santosh bagged two wickets each in MUVANLAI's innings.
Ranjan was the highest run getter in the chase with 35 runs as Monet with 24 and Premjit with 22 runs followed suit in a losing cause.
Sanjay of Muvanlai was named man of the match.
