Sunil, Gelson hit tons as MPSC crush NAPSA by 207 runs; pip AKSDO, Blue Hawk to seal semi-final berth
MPSC-Old Lambulane overwhelmed NAPSA-Kha Imphal by 207 runs to finish Group B runners up and completed the semi-final line up of the 3rd MNCA Super Plate Toumament 2023-24 .
MPSC opted to bat first and amassed up a massive total of 299 runs for 4 in allotted 35 overs at Model Hr Secondary School and Oriental College Ground courtesy tons from Sunil (90-ball 105 not out) and Th Gelson (80-ball 122) .
MPSC then skittled out NAPSA for 92 runs in 26.3 overs on the back of Bijoykumar (3/12 in 5 overs) and S Shangkar (3/17 in 7 overs) to register their fourth victory and climbed to second in the Group table.
The result also leave NAPSA at the rock bottom of the Group table and are relegated to the Plate Group.
S Shangker 18 and Kinsgon 24 also contributed to MPSC's tally after they won the toss and opted to bat first.
The innings saw Y Rocky picked two wickets and T Dhanakuber and L Kipajan claiming a wicket apiece.
Ch Mitamnganba 24 not out, L Kipajan 24 and T Dhanakuber 16 were the top run getters for NAPSA in the chase which saw four batters depart without registering any run.
Th Gelson and P Bonem of MPSC also chipped in with a wicket apiece to set up NAPSA's slump.
Th Gelson was eventually adjudged man of the match.
Meanwhile, Blue Hawk-Khurai also pulled off a huge 112 run victory against UCC-Uripok for the fourth win at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium but ended up finishing third in the table and missed out on the knock-out berth.
UCC put Blue Hawk to bat first and the latter piled up a moderate total of 195 for 8 wickets in 35 overs courtesy a half century from Ajit (53) and contributions from Dijen 22, W Samson 25 and H Samsung 20 not out.
Blue Hawk then bowled out UCC for just 83 runs riding on exceptional bowling performances from Mintu (4/ 15 in 3 overs), W Samson (3/ 8 in 5.3 overs) and Jitender (2/19 in 7 overs).
Bishoijit 30 and Paris 14 were the only double digit scorers for UCC in their dismal chase.
W Samson of Blue Hawk who added 25 and picked 3 wickets was adjudged man of the match.
Group A winners KCC-Kongba will play Group B runners PCC-Mayaikoibi in the first semi-final match on December 7 at Model Hr Sec School and Oriental College Ground while Group B winners YWC-L will face off against Group A runners up MPSC in the second semi-final at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground.
The final match is slated for December 10 at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground.
