Will urge BCCI to get permanent membership for MCA : N Biren

In connection with the visit of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Anurag Singh to the State, Heingang AC MLA and MCA president N Biren Singh has said that he will urge the BCCI to give a permanent membership to Manipur Cricket Association (MCA), yesterday at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
Manipur which is currently an associate member of the BCCI, which means the State can only play against fellow associate and affiliate members such as Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Sikkim.
Manipur became a member in 1997, but were not granted permission to compete in BCCI tournaments until 2008 .
In the 2011-12 season, Manipur won the BCCI Associate & Affiliate Members Under-22 tournament and were runners-up in the Women's tournament.
In the 2013-14 season, they won the Associate & Affiliate Members tournament at the Under-19 level and were runners-up at the Under-16 level.
