Kangpokpi 2nd Kid's soccer trophy concludes

The 2nd edition of Kid's Soccer Trophy 2014, organised by Kid's Foundation School, Kangpokpi concluded today at Major General Benoy Poonan Ground, Phyapou village Kangpokpi.
The closing ceremony of the tournament was graced by prominent member of Kangpokpi Town Committee Chonkam Kipgen and Joint Secretary Kangpokpi Town Committee Haochon Haokip as chief guest and president respectively.
Principal of Kid Foundation School, Kangpokpi, Timothy said that the tournament was organised at the Inter Junior High School level within Sadar Hills to encourage the students to come up in the field of games and sports and to inculcate thinking power towards education.
Games and sports form part of education, he added.
While speaking at the occasion Chonkam Kipgen asserted that most of the educational institutions within Sadar Hills target education only in the field of studying but overlook the importance and necessity of social existence.
He said that, an educated person is one who is educated socially, politically, executively including physical fitness.
Before the final a friendly match between Kangpokpi Town Committee and the organizing committee of the tournament was played today.
In the friendly match Kangpokpi Town Committee defeated the tournament's organizing committee by a margin of 4 goals to three.
In the final match, Gelnal Government High School defeated Parizeau Maratha Academy, Kangpokpi by a margin of 2 goals to nil to clinch the champion's trophy.
A cash prize of Rs 5,000 was awarded to the champion team.
The Shield Cup with a cash prize of Rs 3,000 was conferred on the runners up team, PMA, Kangpokpi.
Third place Khaochangbung was awarded a trophy with a cash prize of Rs 1,500 while many other individual prizes were also distributed.
