State Chess C'ship : Dayanand leads U-15 open competition after two rounds

Thoudam Dayanand led the U-15 Open competition with two points after two rounds as the 30th U-9, 36th U-15 Open and 31st U-15 Girls Manipur State Chess Championships kicked off this afternoon at D Chess Academy, Uripok Khoisnam Leikai.
The championships organised by D Chess Academy and Manipur Chess Association were formally launched in the presence of RK Bhogen Singh, secretary of Manipur Chess Association, said D Chess Academy Head Coach Yambem Dhanabir in a statement.
In all 63 players including 11 girls are competing in the championships, DCA Head Coach said.
Dayanand remained on top defeating Reyansh Rajapur for the second win this evening.
Other players who have also secured two of two victories in the U-15 Open competition include Y Yainganba, S Lemba, M Einstein, M Williamba, L Stanley Meethoiba, Thounaojam Dupachandra and Prichard Elangbam.
Reyansh Jayapur, Th Salainganba, S Siddarth, N Singthoiba, S Leishem, H Yaikhomba, H Brainson and M Veeral were players who won in their first round but suffered defeat in the second round.
Meanwhile, N Aryan, Kh Lanngamba, M Teryjohn, L Yohenba, M Nelson, N Jonex, A Peeyush, M Punsiba have registered wins in the second round to seal their first point.
In the U-15 girls championship featuring four players, N Ajelena opened her winning account by defeating H Cecilia while Sougaijam Nadia and M Bidyapati shared 0.5 point apiece with a draw in the opening round.
In the U-9 Manipur Open Championship, Leirikhomba Mangang defeated Ishan Irom; Kabir Parth defeated Ch Magnus, E Mangal defeated N Khelemba, N Manithoi defeated L Dindayal and Thounaojam Favein defeated O Lipun for second straight victories.
On the other hand, Nongthombam Jojo defeated A Dinky in the first round, defeated Jasmita Yambem for the second win in the U-9 Girls State Championships participated by 7 players.
Yaichen Yumnam who opened her winning account by defeating T Lingjelleima in the first round secured her second win by defeating I Shankar who got a first round bye.
Salam Thoithoi had earlier beaten Jasmita Yambem in the first round before going down to Lingjelleima in the second round.
The championships will culminate tomorrow.
