Denis Phuritshabam becomes first officially certified randonneur from Manipur

Imphal, July 02 2019: Denis Phuritshabam of Porompat Thawanthaba Leikai, Imphal East became the first officially certified randonneur from Manipur after he accomplished the BRM ride recently conducted by Nashik Cyclists under the aegis of Audax India Randonneurs and Audax Club Parisien Randonneurs, Paris.

The event, BRM 200 which called for riding 200 km within 13.5 hours, was held on June 23, 2019 along the Nashik-Ghargaon-Nashik route which was a rolling terrain with ghats crossings, said a press release of Manipur Adventure and Mountain Biking Association (MAAMBA).

Denis who was set in a group of 15 took off the ride at 6 am and completed the course at 7.06 m with few minutes to spare after braving multiple punctured tyre incidents which have to be self patched, scorching summer heat that touched 42 degree celcius, strong winds and strict verifications at various control points by ride marshals, the release continued.

After due official process, Denis was certified on July 1 .

MAAMBA also expressed proud over such accomplishment by the young rider who had previously undertaken a bicycle ride from Mumbai to Imphal with verifiable GPS tagging in October last year.
