30th Sr Natl Sepaktakraw : Manipur men and women teams settle for runners up titles

Imphal, December 31 2019: Manipur senior men's and women's teams finished runners up at the 30th Senior National Sepaktakraw Championship 2019-20 held at Ranchi, Jharkhand under the supervision of Sepaktakraw Federation of India since December 29 .

State's women's team had to contend with the runners up title as they went down 1-2 in the hands of SSB in the final today.

In the first regu, Manipur had a sloppy start and were 15-21, 22-20, 11-21 behind SSB but made their way back with a 7-21, 21-14, 21-13 finish before losing the third regu 19-21, 13-21 .

On the other hand, Manipur's men's team suffered a 16-21, 14-21; 14-21, 15-21 loss in the hands of SSB in the final to finish runners up.

Meanwhile, in the men's regu matches, Manipur down Mizoram 9-21, 21-10, 21-11; overwhelmed Gujarat 21-3, 21-5; AP 21-19, 21-8 before prevailing 21-7, 21-7 against Maharashtra to finish group winners.

Manipur women's also shone in the regu events as they thrashed AP 21-4, 21-8 before trouncing Maharashtra 21-14, 21-14 and Jharkhand by 21-3, 21-4 sets.
