AFC secure first win against ULFC

Imphal, October 29 2017: AFC thrashed ULFC 5-1 in the first leg between the two teams at AFC’s homeground, RYDO ground, Charangpat in the ongoing 22nd Winners’ Cup for Men 2017 organised under the supervision of All Manipur Football Association .

AFC, Thoubal came back from behind to thump ULFC, Chandel 5-1.S Bunghong opened the account for ULFC early in the 7th minute of the match but it was equalised by M Oken of the home team in the 20th minute .

Both teams carried on with their offensive modes and AFC struck in the 39th minute when N Roshan broke the deadlock to take the lead.

The first half ended 2-1 in favour of AFC .

After the breather, AFC started to dominate the game with crisp passing and better understanding among the players.

Md Shahidur of AFC made a fine run and outstepped few defenders and cracked a clinical shot in the 49th minute to make the scoreline 3-1 .

M Oken, who was also finding cracks in ULFC’s inner territory succeeded and struck his second goal to further extend the lead in the 69th minute .

AFC continued to sustain pressure upon the hapless visitor .

Md Shahidur was also able to score his second goal in the 80th minute to hand the visitor a humiliating 5-1 defeat .

AFC and ULFC will meet at Liwa Sarai ground, Chandel on November 1in the second leg which will decide the semi-finalist .

KPSC, Kakching will host tomorrow’s match against RAO, Lairikyengbam Leikai at DSA ground, Kakching at 1pm.
