Imphal, August 28 2022: Imphal East will lock horns with Imphal West in the women's final of the 2nd Manipur Olympic Games Handball as Imphal West set up men's title clash with Thoubal.

In the men's semi-final matches staged at YLK ground, Chingarel Tejpur, Imphal West outlasted Bishnupur 26-0 before Thoubal edged out Imphal East 25-22 .

Th Ratankumar shone with 8 goals in the Imphal West's 26-10 victory as his team mate A Tondonba followed with 7 points.

In the Thoubal's crucial win, Kh Lenin topscored with 9 goals as O Okendro scored 5 goals and Th Hemanta, H Ingocha and N Sharatchandra added 3 goals each.

K Lakpati (7), Y Amardeep Roy (5) and A Bikramjit (4) led the scoring for the Imphal East team in a lost cause.

Meanwhile in the women's first semi-final Imphal East knocked out Thoubal 33-28 in a keenly contested encounter.

Ch Luxmi made the most goals (11) for the winning side followed by 7 goals apiece from Y Monika and Th Bimolata and 6 goals from Dimple M .

Th Anjubala also shone with 11 goals for the Thoubal team but her efforts went in vain.

I Ronibala and Th Jenila also added 6 goals each to Thoubal's tally.

In the other semi-final clash, Imphal West overwhelmed Bishnupur 20-11 as A Bebe scored 7 goals and L Remika netted 5 goals.

Arina also scored 7 goals for Bishnupur in this one sided encounter.

Basketball : Ukhrul, Tamenglong and Imphal East victorious in men's league matches
Ukhrul beat Senapati 31-23 in a Group C league match today before Tamenglong outclassed Tengnoupal 35-18 in a Group D league match and Imphal East overwhelmed Kamjong 59 -37 in a Group B league match. In the women's league matches, Ukhrul crushed Kangpokpi 34-2 before Senapati edged past Imphal West 21-19 .

Volleyball : Stage set for men's quarter finals
The quarter final line up of the men's competition was completed today.

Bishnupur will play Thoubal in the first quarter final match and Imphal West will play Kakching in the second quarter final match. Noney will take on Kangpokpi in the third quarter final match tomorrow before Kamjong take on Chandel.
