MU's H Ambeshwori settles for silver at All India Inter University Boxing Competition

Imphal, December 24 2024: Huidrom Ambeshwori won Manipur University a silver medal at All India Inter University Boxing Competition hosted by Guru Kashi University, Bathinda, Punjab from December 18 to 24 .

Ambeshwori, a fourth semester student of Kamakhya Pemton College, Hiyangthang went down by 2-3 split decision loss to Sapna Devi of Punjabi University, Patiala, Punjab in the final to settle for the silver medal.

Earlier in the quarterfinal, Ambeshwori pulled off a 5-0 unanimous decision win over K Monisha of University of Madras before securing a similar win against Vanshika of University of Rajasthan in the semi-final.

The MU team were led by Moirangthem Sunderchand as manager and Moirangthem Shyamchandra as coach, said a press release issued by the Department of Sports, Manipur University.

Vice Chancellor, Dean of Students' Welfare, Registrar and members of MU Sports Committee congratulated the boxer and team members on their achievement, the statement added.
