Imphal, May 20 2022: Challong beat Thamlakhuren 5-4 via tie break after a 1-1 draw to enter quarter final of the ongoing 56th All Lamkang Sports Meet men's football at Angkhel Chayang playground.

Thamlukhren entered into the break with a 1-0 lead thanks to Rengshing's goal in the 36th minute but Alex Kangten helped Challong draw level in the 52nd minute to extend the game to a penalty shoot-out.

In the shoot-out, Alex Kangten, Weingamleivon, Rengthot Dilbungm Wangshel Shankhil and Wangpol Shangkhil scored for the winning side to make the aggregate scoreline read 6-5 as only Korengam, Akbar, Kalenthang and Mothy found the target for Thamlakhuren.

Challong will take on Haika Khuwbul in the quarter final match on May 23 .

Earlier in the 10th match of the tournament, Phaidaam ran riot against Kotal Khunthak to secure a 5-1 win and progress into the pre-quarter final.

SK Bungjoy found the opener for the winners early in the 2nd minute before SS Shetringdam doubled the advantage during additional time of the first half (40+1').SS Stanely however pulled back a goal for Kotal Khunthak the next minute to make it 1-2 at the stroke of the halftime.

Phaidaam, however, gained full control of the game after the break and it were SK Bungpem (51'), JV Sethot (56') and LV Rengsingam (80+4') who took their turns to add to the tally and gave their team a comfortable 5-1 win.

In the last match of the day, Bungring scored a brace (53', 56') in the second half to help P Ralringkhu set up a pre-quarter final date with Phaidaam tomorrow.
