State swimmers who shone at Aquatic Nationals feted

Imphal, December 19 2021: Swimmers who brought home medals from the 37th Sub-Junior, 47th Junior National Aquatic Championships 2021 and 17th Masters National Aquatic Championships 2021 which was held from November 19 to 23 in Bangalore and Mangalore were accorded a warm reception today.

The felicitation programme was organised by Manipur Swimming Association at the premises of NLM Club, Kongba Kshetri Leikai in the presence of W Sushilkumar Singh, Retd Deputy Director YAS; Dr O Nobo Singh, former president of Manipur Swimming Association; M Koba, pioneer swimmer and T Thouba Singh, president of Manipur Swimming Association and Deputy Director, Training and Coaching, YAS as presidium members.

It may be noted that Laitonjam Lanchenba (Sub-Junior Boys, Group-IV) won a silver and a bronze medal respectively in the 50 m butterfly and 50 m breaststroke events.

Deshesh Loitongbam (Sub-Junior Boys Diving, Group III) also won Manipur a bronze medal in the 1 m springboard event.

Meanwhile in the junior boys competitions, S Athouba (Group II) bagged the 50 m freestyle gold medal while Laishram Dexon (Diving, Group III) won three medals, one silver in the 3 m springboard, a bronze medal in the 1 m springboard and a bronze medal in the high board.

The swimmers and N Debeshwor Singh who led the State team as coach cum team manager, were feted with simple presents during the programme.
