United Friends' Library and Club fetes martial artists

The United Friends' Library and Club, Lamboikhongnangkhong, Uripok Kangchup Road felicitated martial artists in a small function held at the office of the club today.
Shifu (8 Dan) Thangjam Shantikumar, vice president of the All India Mansuria Kung-Fu Federation and Shifu (7 Dan) Priyokumar Yumlembam who attended the International Mansuria Kung-Fu Workshop held recently in South Africa and athletes who participated in the recently held 2nd National Martial Arts Championship in Jalandhar, Punjab were feted at the occasion, said the club in a statement.
Speaking at the occasion, president of the club Dr Thokchom Denedra Kumar noted the sacrifice and contribution of Shifu Shantikumar since 1984 by opening a school of self defence by the name Mansuria International to cater martial art knowledge to youngsters since 1984 .
Martial artists from his school have won many medals at prestigious state and national level martial art competitions, he said while adding that more than 200 persons who received training under him have achieved tremendous successes and are serving in departments and institutions under the Central Government, he noted.
He also congratulated Shantikumar on being honoured with SKISA Commendation Award 2023 at the recently held workshop for his presentation of Mansuria Kung-Fu by adding elements of indigenous martial arts.
He also expressed that all the 16 martial artists starred in the and returned with a commendable medal haul from the Jalandhar event.
Club's office bearers and former executive members attended the programme as dignitaries, the release added.
