59 Mountain Brigade sponsors the great Senapati marathon

With the theme of 'Run for peace and unity', HQ 59 Mountain Brigade under Red Shield Division sponsored a marathon race which was organised by Go Go Palz - Igniting People organisation.
The event was organised for the first time in Senapati in which two categories were made for the participants.
In the open category which was of 14 KM, all participants gathered at the gate of 43 Assam Rifles, Lairoching.
The start point for the 5 KM long second category which was made for gazetted officers, physically challenged persons, men above 40 years of age and women above 30 years of age was at Karong.
In a very colourful and gaiety environment, Brigadier AK Narula, Commander 59 Mountain Brigade hurled the chequered flag at Lairoching and flagged off the main event of 14 KM.
Men, women and children from all communities including Naga, Kuki, Meitei and Nepali participated in a huge number and put in their best to emerge as winner.
Army and Assam Rifles personnel from HQ 59 Mountain Brigade, 43 Assam Rifles and 5 Assam Rifles also participated in the marathon making the entire event a grand success.
The second category of 5 KM was flagged off by Mr PK Jha, DC Senapati at Karong.
Brig AK Narula, Commander 59 Mountain Brigade, Col Swarn Singh, Commandant 43 Assam Rifles and Col Vikram Dubey, Commandant 5 Assam Rifles were amongst the noted dignitaries who participated in the marathon, said a press release of PRO (Defence) .
The great marathon culminated at Mini Stadium, Senapati which was decorated with banners and flags of the event.
In a colourful programme organised by Go Go Palz at Senapati, Brig AK Narula, Commander 59 Mountain Brigade distributed the prizes to the winners of various categories.
In his speech, the commander lauded all participants and Go Go Palz organisation for the successful conduct of the grand event.
At the end he thanked one and all to make the event a great success and also asserted that HQ 59 Mountain Brigade will strive and assist in future too to organise the event every year, according to the press release.
