4th Khanglai meet Mong helps FC Zalen lift title

Kangpokpi, March 16 2016:
The 4th Khanglai meet which began from March 5 under the aegis of District Sports Association, Sadar Hills at Brig Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi ended today at Saikul Block playground.
Brilliant saves in the penalty shoot-out by FC Zalen custodian Mong helped his side emerge champions in the Khanglai Meet for the second time, today at Saikul Block playground.
The closing ceremony of the two week long tournament was graced by IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip, MLA Yamthong Haokip and ADC Sadar Hills vice chairman Thangjakam Misao as chief guest, functional president and guest of honour respectively.

Apart from the officials of District Sports Association, Sadar Hills many other civil bodies also attended the function attended by huge fans of both the finalist teams.
The normal time of the final match played between the defending champion FC Zalen, Sadar Hills and SK Soccer, Churachandpur ended on a goalless draw.
Penalty shootout was brought into the match to decide the winner.
In the penalty, FC Zalen managed to score 4 goals while SK Soccer managed to net only two goals after FC Zalen goalkeeper Mong was impressive with two brilliant saves.
Champions team FC Zalen were awarded a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh with a trophy while the runners up SK Soccer were awarded a cash prize of Rs 70,000 and a trophy.
Third place JSYC, Sadar Hills and fourth place DM Rao were also awarded cash prizes of Rs 30,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.
Nelson of FC Zalen and Thangtinlen of SK Soccer clinched the best player and top scorer award while Damkhupreng (Mong) of FC Zalen and Thangkhopao of FC Khanglai were adjudged the best goalkeeper and emerging player of the tournament respectively.
The fair play title went to FC Khanglai, Sadar Hills, donated by Late Lentinlal Haokip's family of Gamnom Sapormeina while the runners up cash prize of Rs 70,000 was donated by FC Zalen founder Mangboi Haokip.
