9th MNCA Plate Tournament : Dayananda bowls KCDO to third win in four matches

Imphal, December 15 2024: Ksh Day ananda enjoyed a four wicket haul to earn KCDO, Kongpal a 5 wicket win over IBSA, Yumnam in a Group A encounter of the ongoing 9th MNCA Plate Tournament at Lairenjam Public Ground.

It was the third win for KCDO in four matches and the result lifted the team to second in the Group table behind NAPSA, Kha Imphal who have registered three straight victories.

IBSA opted to bat first after winning the toss, but ended up gathering 144 runs for all wickets down in 35 overs despite Nelson Keithellakpam's fighting 54 off 80 balls as Ksh Dayananda (4/31) and Md Ajizur Rahman (2/16) were clinical in their approach.

KCDO then cruised to the target in 32.5 overs with 5 wickets left to spare thanks to Netajit Konsam 35 not out and Prakash Nandeibam 23 not out.

Mk Tamin and three others picked a wicket apiece for IBSA today.

Dayananda was eventually adjudged player of the match.

Elsewhere at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, YPHUC, Lalambung Makhong racked up 244/8 in 32 overs and held KIYC to 210/8 to end their three-game winless run in the Group B competition.

Irom Sunny 38, Chandrakumar 32, M David 27, Bishworaj 22 not out and Amitakanta 21 not out led the scoring for YPHUC in the innings that saw Md Abdulla Khan (3/46) and Ahanthem Mangesh (2/29) sharing 5 wickets for KIYC.

In reply, Akip Zensi 45, Mv Md Aman 38 not out, A Manesh 26 and Ph Pikeshor 25 made significant contributions but their efforts fell short as their innings ended at 210.For YPHUC, Chandrakumar (3/33) and Birbal Irom (2/35) shared five wickets as three others picked a wicket apiece.

Chandrakumar who starred with both the bat and ball was adjudged player of the match.
