26th Governor's Cup Polo Imphal Riding Club, MPSC-B enter QFs

Imphal, March 14 2016: Imphal Riding Club and MPSC-B entered the quarterfinals of the ongoing 26th Governor's Cup Invitation Polo Tournament, organised by the Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association (MHRPA), today at Imphal Pologround.

In the first pre-quarterfinal match today, Imphal Riding Club (IRC) trounced K&MM Riding School (K&MMRS) by a margin of 6 goals to three.

The match began with both sides scoring one goal each in the first chukker.

Ch Ajit opened the goal account for K&MMRS while L Rohit found the equaliser for IRC.

IRC were impressive in the second chukker as they witnessed four goals through A Basanta, L Romin, N Ranjan and L Rohit.

The second chukker ended with IRC taking a comfortable 5-1 lead.

In the third chukker, Ch Ajit scored for K&MMRS.

However, A Basanta scored his second goal for IRC in the same chukker making the scoreline 6-2 .

The third goal for K&MMRS came in the final chukker after S Abung found the target.

In another match today, MPSC-B outplayed Tekcham Polo Club (TPC) by a margin of 11 goals to three.

The second match was a one sided match as MPSC-B with better ball possession dominated form the first minute.

In the first chukker, MPSC-B witnessed two goals from Th Kaoba and I Khaba while S Ranjit pulled back a goal for TPC.

Strikes from T Pradeepkumar, Th Kaoba and Kh Nongpoknganba helped MPSC-B take a convincing 5-1 lead at the end of the second chukker.

Th Kaoba was the highest scorer of the match as he hit a brace in the third chukker for the police team while M Bilam and T Pradeepkumar also contributed a goal each.

On the other hand, S Ranjit found his second goal for TPC in the same chukker.

In the final chukker, I Khaba and T Pradeepkumar scored a goal each to seal the match 11-3 in favour of MPSC-B while S Sadanana scored the third goal of TPC.

The tournament is being participated by twelve teams (men) and three (women) and the final match is scheduled on March 20 .
