Imphal, February 14 2016: CYCLONE, Thangmeiband downed TRAU, Kwakeithel by 27 runs to clinch the title of the 2nd Elite Tournament, organised by the Manipur Cricket Association (MCA), today at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Luwangshangbam.

The closing ceremony was attended by Retd Director of Youth Affairs and Sports W Bhaktaraj Singh and MCA vice president S Tikendrajit as presidium members.

In today's final match, CYCLONE went to bat first after winning the toss and set a 113 runs in the allotted 35 overs with nine men down.

Unbeaten Homendro struck a 47 valuable runs off 45 balls.

Sudhir and William who were the other notable players contributed 23 and 14 runs respectively.

TRAU bowlers Jotish, Saroj, Rajiv scalped two wickets each while Bobin and Thomas grabbed a wicket each.

Chasing CYCLONE's 112 runs, TRAU could managed only 85 runs with all men down in 32.4 overs.

Kipgen and Priyojit were the main scorers of TRAU as Kipgen scored 28 runs off 38 balls while Proyojit contributed 21 runs off 63 balls.

A fine bowling spree from Akshay of CYCLONE claimed three wickets while Homendro, Jempu and William took two wickets each.

The man of the match title went to Homendro of CYCLONE.

Champions CYCLONE were awarded a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and a rolling trophy while runners up TRAU received a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a rolling trophy.

The man of the series title went to Jempu of CYCLONE (22 wickets, 86 runs), he was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1000 and a trophy while man of final match Hemochandra received a cash prize of Rs 500 and a trophy.
