AMFA slaps SU with Rs 50,000 fine

The All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) has imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 against Sagolband United for the misconduct (physical assault) towards the referee by their officials and supporters on October 10 after the end of the 47th match of 12th Manipur State League between Sagolband United and NEROCA FC that ended in favour of NEROCA FC.Imphal, Oct 12: The All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) has imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 against Sagolband United for the misconduct (physical assault) towards the referee by their officials and supporters on October 10 after the end of the 47th match of 12th Manipur State League between Sagolband United and NEROCA FC that ended in favour of NEROCA FC.It may be mentioned that 12th Manipur State League organised by AMFA under the sponsorship of Khumukcham Ingocha Memorial Trust has been halted since the ugly incident happened.
On Oct 10, supporters of SU along with team officials physically assaulted the centre referee and assistant referee after the match while they were on their way to the dressing room below the VIP gallery at Mapal Kangjeibung.
Some AMFA officials were also present at the spot when the referees were assaulted.Taking a serious note, the executive council of AMFA issued a memorandum regarding the incident and as disciplinary action, RK Momocha, president and Th NR Meitei, team manager of Sagolband United have been banned from all activities organised by AMFA and its affiliated units for a period of 2 years with immediate effect and a fine of Rs 10,000 has been slapped on both of them which is payable to AMFA on or before October 20.A fine of Rs 50,000 has also been imposed on SU for the unwanted and unruly conduct offending dignity of referees and other officials of AMFA which is to be deposited before October 20. AMFA has also delisted Mahesh Akham from the official list of SU as assistant coach with immediate effect.
