CC Meet: ZFC thrashes NACO enters quarter

Imphal, January 10 2013: Zomi Football Club (ZFC), Churachandpur thrashed NACO, Nambul Mapal 3-1 in the last pre-quarter final match today and entered the quarter final round of the ongoing 56th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament (CC Meet) organised by AMFA at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.

Right from the beginning, ZFC dominantly played the match.

The first goal account of ZFC in today's match was scored in the very first minute by Jolthang.

Minutes later, Eric Tluang scored a goal in the 10th minute and extended the lead fo ZFC to 2-0 .

Unable to open their goal account, NACO players who were shocked by the two successive goals tried their best to equalise the score.

But the first half ended 2-0 in favour of ZFC.

In the second half, both teams played the match with full determination to win.

While ZFC was looki for chances to strike more goals, NACO were busy defending themselves as well as looking for chances to sneak behind the defence line of their opponents.

As the match progressed, Jolthang of ZFC come up with a brace in the 78th minute and extended their lead to 3-0.On the other hand, NACO players who could not open their goal account did not lose their heart and tried their best to square back the game.

As a result, they succeeded in opening their goal account in the 86th minute through H Rishikanta.

With the goal, morale of NACO players got a boost and they raced against time with a pin of hope to equalise the score.

But there was not enough time for them to fight back and make even.

With the final whistle of the referee, they had to leave the field as well as the tournament with a heavy heart while ZFC players were celebrating their win which took them one step ahead towards the champion's trophy.
