MU, Pt RSS University win East Zone Inter University Handball

Imphal, November 08 2012: Manipur University and Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University, Chattisgarh have emerged champions for Men's and Women's category respectively at the East Zone Inter University Handball (M&W) Championships 2012 as the championships concluded today at the Indoor Hall of SAI NERC, Takyelpat, Imphal.

Manipur University, Canchipur organised the championships under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.

In women's category, Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University, Chattisgarh earned nine points at the end of the three league rounds and won the champion's title.

Manipur University, Canchipur earned six points and won the runner up's title.

VBS Purvanchal University, Jaunpur, UP won the third place with three points.

Meanwhile, in Men's category, Manipur University earned nine points at the end of the three league rounds and emerged champion.

Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi, UP earned six points and won the runner up's title while VBS, Purvanchal University, UP won the third place with three points.

Prof H Nandakumar, Vice Chancellor, MU; Prof Th Ratankumar, Dean of Students Welfare, MU and Francis Marwein, Director in charge, SAI NERC, Takyelpat, Imphal graced the closing ceremony as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
