State level inter school tournament BPR, IE win boys', girls' volleyball titles

Imphal, October 08 2015: Bishnupur and Imphal West respectively clinched the boys' and girls' volleyball titles in the State Level Inter School Tournament in Under - 14 volleyball and handball (boys and girls), organised by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Manipur, today at Main Stadium, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal.

In today's volleyball final, Bishnupur beat Ukhrul (25-22, 25-22, 30-28) in the boy's group while Imphal East claimed a 3-1 (25-17, 22-25, 28-26, 25-17) win against Ukhrul in the girls' event.

In the handball event, Thoubal stunned Kangpokpi by a margin of 14 goals to nine in the U-14 boys' first semifinal.

The winning goals of Thoubal were scored by A Somorjit (6), A Prem (4), L Pritam (3) and H Surchandra (1) .

On the other side, Thangpu Chongloi (4), Lungunhao Hanshing (4) and Lallensang Lhouring (1) scored for the Kangpokpi team.

Imphal East will face Bishnupur in the second semi-final tomorrow at 7 am.

In the girls' first semi-final, Bishnupur trounced Imphal East by a margin of 13 goals to six.

Y Monika (6) and M Kalpana (7) scored the winning goals of Bishnupur.

On the other side, K Sonia (4), K Umabati (1) and M Nandini (1) scored for the Imphal East side.

Tomorrow, Thoubal and Kangpokpi will play in the second semi-final at 7 am.
