Classic FA, KYVO, SAINIK FC advance into next round

Imphal, February 08 2021: Classic Football Academy; KYVO, Kwasiphai and Sainik FC emerged victorious in today's matches to cruise into the next stage of the 11th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial Football Tournament.

The State level open tournament (knock out basis) is being organised by 143 Bn CRPF with close co-operation and support of AMFA and IWDFA at SAI Sports Complex, Takyelpat since February 6 .

In the second match of the tournament, Classic FA edged out Hiyai Academy, Luwang-sangbam by 2-1 goals.

After a barren first half, N Bidhyananda gave Classic FA a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute before Ch Paogilen Mate extended the lead in the 69th minute.

Hiyai Academy pulled back a goal in the 77th minute.

The team however failed to draw level and Classic FA eventually cruised home 2-1 to secure the next round berth.

In the second match of the day, KYVO thumped AMOFA, Moirang 3-0.KYVO were 1-0 ahead till the break thanks to W Dingku goal in the 39th minute and as AMOFA struggled to find their form.

AMOFA failed to improve themselves even after the restart and well coordinated KYVO earned its second through K Zimik in the 66th minute before K Jeanbilung struck the final nail in the coffin later in the 81st minute.

Meanwhile in the last match of the day and tournament's fourth, Sainik FC overwhelmed TRAU reserve team 4-0 riding on Chinglemba double.

Chinglemba opened up Sainik FC's account in the 13th minute before Naocha added another two minutes later.

Chinglemba then hit his second in the 34th minute to make it 3-0 for Sainik FC till the break as TRAU failed to make a mark.

Ronaldo then fired home the fourth goal for Sainik FC in the 70th minute.
