AITA Super Series : Bhicky Sagolshem, Shimreen Ahamed clinch singles titles

Imphal, May 03 2019: Manipur's Bhicky Sagolshem claimed the boys singles title while Shimreen Ahamed of West Bengal was crowned girls singles winner at the AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament for U-14 boys and girls organised by Manipur Tennis Association at Officers' Club tennis court at Lamphelpat.

Bhicky Sagolshem overcame Ashwajit Senjam 6-1, 6-2 in an all Manipuri clash to win the boys singles title while West Bengal's Shimreen Ahamed clinched the girls' singles title with a 6-3, 6-4 win against Chandni Srinivasan of Telangana in the final match.

Senjam Ashwajit reached the final of the boys tourney with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Mihir Parcha of Telangana while Bhicky Sagolshem outlasted Rohan Agarwal of West Bengal 6-4, 6-2 to set up title clash with Ashwajit.

Meanwhile Chandni Srinivasan of Telangana sealed her final spot yesterday with a comfortable 6-0, 6-1 win against Aditi Singh of West Bengal and Shimreen Ahamed overwhelmed Saumitra Jagatdeo Verma 6-3, 6-1 to complete the final line up for the girls singles competition yesterday.

It may be mentioned that the pair of Ashwajit and Bhicky and Malishka Kuramu-Chandni Srinivasan fetched the boys doubles and girls doubles titles respectively at this tournament participated by 28 boys and 23 girls players from across the country.
