YDO thrash 27 AR to enter semi-final

Imphal, February 02 2014: YDO, Konjeng Lamdong thrashed 27 Assam Rifles Kadamtala by pumping in three goals and conceding none to enter the semi-final of the 10th Jiri Cup Invitation Football Tournament today.

Both teams started warily, not really going for the kill and concentrated more on keeping their citadels intact.

The defensive tactics employed by both teams saw a barren first half, though there were some good moves initiated by either side.

However none of the two teams came close anywhere near to scoring and lemon break was taken with both teams caught in a deadlock.

In the second half, YDO adopted a more aggressive approach and started making inroads into the territory of the AR team time and again.

The attacking ploy adopted by YDO finally paid off when A Nanao found himself in a good position to unleash a powerful shot that beat the custodian of the rival team hands down in the 59th minute.

The one goal only bolstered the YDO team as they kept on piling the pressure not resting on their one goal lead.

The second goal came off a fine man to man pass and O Olen who was lurking near the goal mouth of the AR team pounced on the ball and slotted it home with ease to increase the lead to 2 goals to nil.

The third goal came ten minutes after the second goal in the 81st minute when O Roshan rattled the net of the AR team to seal the match.
