Karate gold medallist Raju feted

Chakpram Raju Singh who won a gold and a silver medal at the 4th International Karate Championship 2018 organised by All India Seishinkai Shito Ryu Karate Do Federation from July 28 to 29 at Netajit Indoor Stadium, Kolkata, was given a warm welcome and felicitated by Kekru Yairi Club, Yairipok; Kekru Youth Development Club; Kekru Iseal Progressive Committee (KIPC) and other well-wishers of the neighbourhood at Kekru Nongpok Ningthou-Panthobi Laibung Community Hall.
The programme was attended by Keisham Meghachandra Singh, MLA Wangkhem AC as chief guest and Longjam Ibochouba, president of KIPC as functional president.
N Bhupendra, spokesperson MPCC; L Kamala Devi, councillor Ward No.9 YMC and other ward members, National Youth Awardee Sunil; Md Talash, International referee and general secretary of NE Karate Association and other eminent personalities of the region also attended the function as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Meghachandra advised the youth to stay away from intoxicating substances and hinted that courage, hard work and determination are the keys to success in every field.
He also urged all players to keep up their hard work and generous efforts on to achieve big enough and make Manipuri society the best one.
Chakpram Raju who won a gold and a silver medal in the 60 kg category is a son of Chakpra Ingocha and Laibi Devi of Yairipok Kekru Makha Leikai.
The programme also witnessed other 6 medallists who were at the championship beside Raju, being presented with simple gifts.
