1st MAICHON Trophy : FFC, Tolhei FC register opening wins

Imphal, March 30 2019: FFC, Angtha and Tolhei FC, Tentha took off their group stage campaign of the 1st MAICHON Trophy, 2019 State Level Open Soccer Tournament on winning notes.

The tournament being organised by Manipur Imagi Changdamnapham Oiba Nachasing (MAICHON) at Charangpat Mamang Leikai pologround is featuring a total of 12 teams clubbed into 4 groups.

The first group B league match played between FFC, Angtha and MAICHON FC-B, Charangpat ended 2-1 in favour of the Angtha side as N Olen hit a brace after FFC took an early 1-0 lead.

MAICHON FC-B started on a positive note with Y Sushilkumar opening up the account early in the 2nd minute but FFC took control of the game after the goal and found the equaliser when N Olen fired in a powerful shot in the 32nd minute.

The celebration continued as N Olen keep his cool to bang in another the very next minute and handed his team a 2-1 lead.

MAICHON FC-B tried hard to draw level in the latter part of the game but FFC held their lead carefully and sealed the game 2-1 .

Meanwhile in the Group C league match, Tolhei FC had a commanding 3-0 win against YAMBEM FC, Yairipok.

S Boichou Singh gave Tolhei FC a 1-0 lead through his strike in the 9th minute of the match before two more goals came up in the second half.

Jemson (30') was first to find the target in the second half as Tolhei FC continued to take control of the game while K Ronaldo sealed the victory with another goal the very next minute.
