ARC stormed into semifinal at Dr Kanti hockey

Imphal, January 29 2013: Riding on RK Anandajit's hattrick and a brace from Kh Jiban Assam Regimental Centre (ARC), Shillong stormed into the semifinals of the 14th Dr Kanti Mukherjee memorial invitation hockey tournament with a 12-0 demolition of Hockey union (HU), Lairikyengbam at Khuman Lampak Hockey stadium today.

The comprehensive victory ensured top finish for the Shillong side as it completed the three-team Group A quarter final league stage on nine points after it was allotted maximum points for yesterday's abandoned match against Cosmo, Wangkhei.

Besides, Jiban (5th, 58th) and Anandajit (17th, 47th, 57th), the other ARC goal-scorers included M Sashikumar (10th), Th Hemjit (13th), Debasis Mark (25th), Pranjanrabha (28th), Lbtluanga (32nd), A Jotin (33rd) and n premchand (50th) .

Earlier in the day, Bashikhong outfit Meiraa also ensured the last four berth in the competition after handing SSA, Charangpat its second consecutive defeat at 4-3 margin in a Group-B quarter final match.

The victory guaranteed Meiraa's place in the semifinals while SSA are out of reckoning following its 7-2 thrashing by MPSC, the other team in the group, yesterday.

Even though SSA were ahead twice in the game, goals from N Jinjin (23rd), Th Anthony (63rd) and Th Rakesh (66th, 69th) eventually turned the match Meiraa's way.

For SSA, H Mani (12th) and M Dhananjoy (27th, 55th) scored the goals.
