Manipur suffer 9-wicket loss to Odisha

Manipur suffered a 9-wicket loss to Odisha in the fourth round Group A match of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy at Jaipuria Vidyalaya ground in Jaipur today.
It was the fourth successive loss for Manipur having gone down to Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Goa earlier.
Odisha won the toss and let Manipur to bat first.
Manipur had the worst possible start today losing Karnajit on duck in the third delivery for the first wicket before being bundled out for 100 runs in 40 overs with Rajesh Mohanty (3/14 in 9 overs that included 3 maidens) and Tapas Das (4/17 in 10 overs that included 4 maidens) tearing apart the Manipur batting line up with ease.
Basir Rahaman 20, Kishan Singha 17, Pheiroijam Jotin 12 and Sultan Karim 10 managed meagre double digit figures in this innings that also saw Prayash Singh, Jamala Mohapatra and Kartik Biswal chipping with a wicket apiece for Odisha.
In reply, Swastik Samal scored an unbeaten 50 off 64 balls to forge an unbeaten 80-run partnership for the second wicket with Sandeep Patnaik 24 to take the team to winning 104 in 20 overs.
Earlier, Pheiroijam Jotin had dismissed Gourav Choudhury for 17 runs in the 5th delivery of the third over.
Manipur will play Gujarat in the fifth round encounter on December 31 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
