Ranji Trophy 2019-20; Manipur beat Arunachal Pradesh by 84 runs to post second win

Imphal, December 28 2019:
Manipur registered their second win in their third Plate Group encounter of the Ranji Trophy 2019-20 by posting a comfortable 84 run victory against Arunachal Pradesh at Dibrugarh today after four days of action.
Manipur posted 196 for 10 in 87 overs in the first innings and stacked up 215 runs for 10 in 75 overs in their second innings to set a total target of 411 runs.
Arunachal Pradesh started poorly and managed only 143 runs in the first innings before they slumped to 184 runs in the second innings.
In Manipur's first innings, Kangabam Priyojit Singh made a good middle order contribution scoring 43 runs off 107 balls after Al Bashid Muhammed had managed 40 runs in 77 runs.
The innings also saw Md Sultan Karim and Rajkumar Rex hit 35 and 31 runs respectively.
In Arunachal Pradesh's bowling, Karkir Taye did the star turn picking up 4 wickets including opener Bonny Chingangbam wicket and Md Sultan Karim, off 11 overs giving 25 runs.
A Sahani and KG Bam also picked up two wickets in this innings.
Arunachal Pradesh's first innings saw RR Dalal make the most runs by hitting a half century (53 runs off 77 balls) before he was dismissed by Manipur's Sultan Karim while 6 of their batsmen including the openers failed to register double digit scores.
They litterally failed to build any momentum as Lamabam Ajay wreaked havoc to scalp 4 wickets in his 8 over spell while Rajkumar Rex and Kabrambam Homendro finished with 2 wickets each to restrict their rivals to 143 runs in 47 overs.
The second innings of Manipur also witnessed, opener Chingangbam Bonny go out cheaply for 6 runs but half centuries by Sagatpam Jayenta (60) and T Gelson Singh (60) steer the team to 215 total setting a target of 269 runs for Arunachal Pradesh.
Arunachal Pradesh's second innings was where Manipur's Rajkumar Rex shone with 6 wickets and helped Manipur to register a 84 runs victory.
Bishorjit Konthoujam also produced a fine bowling performance and dismissed RR Dalal who was close to hitting a century (84 runs) before removing A Sahani (39 runs).
Eventually, Arunachal Pradesh were held to 184 runs in 65.4 overs with Manipur's Sultan Karim seeing off Karkir Taye with a fine bowling effort.
Rajkumar Rex Singh who finished with bowling figures (18-3-58-6 in second innings; 10-3-27-2 in first innings) and contributed 43 runs (33+12) to Manipur's tally was named man of the match.
Manipur, now at fifth in the Plate group table will play Goa in the next match.
