2nd Kapaam Cup : Contrasting wins for Thamla FC, Santhei FC

THAMLA FC secured a narrow 1-0 win over Monsang Pantha YCC while Santhei FC drubbed Unapal FC 4-0 in the second-round matches of the 2nd Kapaam Cup Invitation Football Tournament 2018 got underway under the aegis of Kapaam Development Club at Kapaam ground from April 19 .
The first match of the second round saw, THAMLA FC score a single goal through striker Paocha in the 54th minute to seal the match 1-0 in a tightly contested game.
Both teams made a sluggish start and concentrated more in the midfield as defence line up on either side intercepted well to go into the break goalless.
The actual attempts from both sides started in the second half but THAMLA FC looked advantageous with better pace and understanding.
The goal drought ended in the 54th minute when Paocha finally went deep into the box and unleashed a powerful shot to hand THAMLA FC the much deserve lead.
The latter part of the game saw Monsang Pantha side trying hard to level the score but their attempts proved too feeble to the strict backline of the winning side who came up to thwarts all threats on time.
Eventually the game ended 1-0 in favour of THAMLA FC.
The second match of the day was a very one sided as Santhei FC posted an overwhelming 4-0 victory over Unapal FC who beat Pallel FC to enter into second round.
The game belonged to Santhei FC right from the beginning and it was Gairanglung who gave the early lead in the 3rd minute before Poungakdai tapped in another goal in the 29th minute to go into the break with a 2-0 lead.
Nisolal and Neilianthang of Unapal FC were awarded yellow cards for their rash challenges both in the 34th minutes.
Pantiga of Santhei was also yellow carded for his unsporting behaviour in the 40th minute.
The dominance of Santhei FC continued in the second half as well as their forwards played out an attacking football while their defenders were at its best leaving no chance for scoring to their rivals.
It was in the 53rd minute that Victor found the back of the net to extend the lead to 3-0 while Dinbuipou put in the finisher in the
61st minute.
