61st CC Meet : NEROCA FC beat NISA 1-0 to seal semi-final berth

Imphal, March 27 2019: NEROCA FC, Sangakpham managed a 1-0 win against NISA, Thangmeiband to book the semi-final berth in the 61st Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament at Artificial Turf Ground, Khuman Lampak today.

The lone goal which separated the two sides was scored by Katsumi Yusa in the 75th minute of the match capitalising on a poor clearance by the rival keeper.

It was an intense contest in the first half but neither side could made their effort count resulting a goalless draw till the break.

NEROCA FC however shifted gears in the second half and threw more men in search of the lead and their efforts paid dividend when Japanese import Katsumi Yusa pounced on the ball deflected from the NISA keeper following Ksh Malemnganba's attempt and fired home the ball to give NEROCA FC the much anticipated lead in the 75th minute.

NISA which were reduced to 10- man after Rojen was sent off the pitch recieving his second yellow in the 77th minute (first yellow in 60th minute), came out of their half trying hard to draw level with L Gouro leading at the front despite NEROCA's pressure and eventually had some close calls but their effort failed to meet the intensity required rendering the Sangakpham side cruise to a 1-0 win.

NEROCA's Katsumi Yusa was also yellow carded by the referee in the 77th minute of the match.

TRAU will play KPFC, Bishnupur in a pre-quarter final clash tomorrow at 1.30 pm .
