5th Friendship Tournament, 2019 begins

The 5th Friendship Tournament, 2019 organized by Mayangkhang Ningthoupham Youth Club (MNYC) kicked off today at its playground in the presence of Ratan Singh, Project Manager, BIPL as chief guest; Alfinah, Art & Culture Secretary, Naga Women's Union and Captain Dilbagh Singh, 34 Assam Rifles, Hengbung Post as guests of honour.
While speaking on the occasion, Captain Dilbagh Singh said that sports should not be considered as profession only but also a means to lead a healthy and prosperous lifestyles.
He also wished all the players a very best of luck in their matches.
Altogether 16 teams from different places of the State namely Senapati FC, Sajokngir Memorial (KCYC), LMT FC (Kuki), Head Hunters FC (Mt Pisgah), T/Khullen FC, Sekmai FC, MJS FC, Katumsiim FC (Katomei), Taphou Naga FC, MNYC FC (Host team), Pukka FC (MU), United Brothers FC (Senapati Zeliang), Taphou Kuki FC, Mayangkhang FC and NG FC (Ngatan) will compete for the top prizes.
The winners of the tourney, which will continue till April 30 will reportedly be awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000 with trophy and runners up will be given Rs 20,000 and a trophy.
Best disciplined team and individual prizes will also be awarded on the last day.
The opening day of the tourney saw Senapati FC brush aside Sajokngir FC by 3-0 and Katumsiim FC beat Taphou Naga FC by 3-1 in the second match.
Headhunter Fc will meet T/Khullen FC, United Brothers FC will batlle it out with Taphou Kuki Fc and MNYC FC will face Pukka FC tommorow.

In a Pool B clash of the U-16 girls competition, SYUC trounced YCCIC-B by 8-0 goals with Sh Tanu, H Bidyaluxmi making multiple strikes.
Sh Tanu converted a penalty corner in the 1st minute of the match to give SYUC a 1-0 lead and doubled the lead in the 4th minute with a field goal.
H Silky then fired in the third goal in the 5th minute before the scoring spree continued with H Bidyaluxmi who scored thrice including a penalty corner (6', 10', 33').As YCCIC-B hardly resist, SYUC went for more goals and it was Sallu P (35') who made it 7-0 off a penalty corner before T Reena chipped in the last goal in the 44th minute.
