MNCA-A emerge champions of 1st MNCA Women T-20 Trophy

Imphal, January 24 2021: MNCA-A have rightfully claimed the title of the 1st MNCA Women T-20 Trophy organised by Manipur Cricket Association with a 6 wicket victory against MNCA-C in the final match today.

Team C which went down by 4 wickets to Team A in the run up to the final, slumped to another big defeat today as Waikhom Ganga and Priyangka of Team A ran through their batting line up and claimed three wickets each.

Team C won the toss and chose to bat first, but failed to improve from previous loss as they skittled out for a meagre total of 50 for 9 in 20 overs.

Kiranbala scored the highest 12 runs off 28 balls followed by Loidangton 9, Ranjita 8, Th Niruka 5 and Milan 3 as MNCA-A bowlers impressed all.

While Ganga picked up three crucial wickets for 4 runs in her spell of four overs which include two maidens, Priyangka managed another three wickets offering 15 runs.

She also got two maidens in her spell of 4 overs.

Meri of Team A also fared well in this innings as she scalped two wickets for 8 runs in 4 overs.

Despite, Kiranbala's effort to slow down the chase, Rebika's 18 helped unbeaten Team A reach the target for 4 in 12 overs.

Kalpana also added 8 runs while Ganga earned 5 runs to Team A's tally in the chase as Kiranbala of Team C earned two wickets in 4 overs.

Waikhom Ganga deservingly bagged the woman of the final match award which carries a cash prize of Rs 500, a trophy and certificate.

Ganga also earned the women of the series title (Rs 1,000, a trophy and a certificate) for her feat of 145 runs and 5 wickets in three matches.

The award is donated by Chingangbam Sachinandon Singh in memory of his late wife Chingangbam Ongbi Ibemhal Devi.

She also pocketed the highest run scorer award carrying a cash prize of Rs 500, a trophy and a certificate.

Her compatriot, Keithellakpam Meri on the other hand, received the highest wicket taker award for clinching 8 wickets in three matches.

The award carrying a cash prize of Rs 1,000, a trophy and a certificate was donated by Konthoujam Bobin Singh in memory of his father late K Tombingou.

Khadija of MNCA-D was named most promising player.

The player, 15, had 5 wickets in her name and was feted with Rs 500, a trophy and a certificate.

The day also saw, winners MNCA-A being feted with a cash prize of Rs 10,000, a trophy and a certificate while the runners up, MNCA C had to settle with a cash prize of Rs 7,000 , a trophy and a certificate.

MNCA-B and MNCA D were also awarded consolation prizes worth Rs 5,000 each along with certificates.
