N Rajningthou Memorial Trophy : TRAU beat KCDO by 3 wickets as YWC post 4 wicket win

TRAU, Kwakeithel, having suffered two losses earlier, came out of their poor from to earn a 3 wicket win against KCDO, Kongpal and open their account in the ongoing 2nd MNCA U-16 Boys Naorem Rajningthou Singh Memorial Trophy 2020 at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
The day also saw YWC, Langthabal post their second win at the tournament by easing past PTRC, Patsoi by 4 wickets at Model Hr Secondary School and Oriental College ground.
At Luwangpokpa Cricket ground, KCDO which won the toss and opted to bat first slumped to a paltry 62 runs total in 19 overs which TRAU chased down with ease.
KCDO started poorly as Anganba went off on 3 in 11 deliveries and lost Rahul on duck.
Rinku who came out for the second wicket stand posted 6 runs off 30 balls before Fernando finished with the highest 7 runs in 14 balls as others went off with few runs or no runs at all.
The total could have been a much lesser had TRAU bowlers not provide 27 extra runs.
Nonetheless, Zenit and Rojit scalped three wickets each in this innings while Ajit and Ronak finished with 2 wicket and a wicket respectively.
TRAU's chase was not also smooth as they lose early wickets in quick succession before Aditya scored 31 runs and steered the team to victory in 17.3 overs with three wickets left in the hand.
Manglemba of KCDO did his part well by picking up three wicket in the chase but his effort fell short as the target was too small.
Aditya was eventually named man of the match.
Meanwhile at Model Hr Secondary and Oriental College ground, PTRC were held to 68 runs for 10 in 21.5 overs after being let to bat first with YWC bowlers taking the centre stage with pace and accuracy and chased down the target in just 16 overs despite losing 6 wickets.
PTRC's Nongdamba who managed 16 runs was the best run getter for the team while Joyraj added 13 runs.
The following order were sent back to the stand quickly as Albert ran through PTRC's batting line up and finished with 3 wickets for 8 runs in 2.5 overs.
Basu also bowled well to pick up two crucial wickets while Seram Robinson, Soubam Robinson and Manikanta claimed a wicket each.
In reply, H Basu and Soubam Robinson remained not out on 23 and 22 runs each to help their team reach the target in 16 overs losing 6 wickets although Ph Jotin of PTRC tried his best and took 5 wickets in 5 overs.
H Basu of YWC was eventually named man of the match.
