YAS minister fetes Wushu championship medallists

Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS) minister Govin das Konthoujam on Thursday felicitated eight Wushu players.
who won gold and bronze medals at the 22nd Sub Junior Wushu Championship held from July 9 to 15 at Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, during a function held at Nachou Maning community hall.
The felicitation programme organised by Wushu Training School Nachou was attended by minister Govindas as chief guest.
Wushu Association Manipur vice president Y Ramananda Singh as president and Bishnupur deputy commissioner L Bikram Singh as guest of honour, while district YAS officer Y Ibeyaima Devi, Nachou Zilla Parishad member Th Dilip Meetei.

Moirang College retired vice principal N Debah Singh, among others were also present at the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Govindas informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working hard to ensure that India becomes one of the leading countries of the world.
He also called upon the gathering to fly the tricolour across the district on August 13 to 15 as in other parts of the country.
Govindas then exhorted the youth to take up sports so as to uproot the problem of drugs from the state.
Khuman Lampak Sports Complex will be developed at par with international standard.
Bishnupur district will also be included under Khelo India and he will ensure that all the requirements of Wushu players are provided.

N Malemnganba Singh (participant in 24 kg category) and Kh Jetish Singh (participant in 54 kg category) along with eight officials were presented with gifts, while exhibition bouts among the medallists were also conducted.
