SPC lifts XXII Governor's Polo Cup

Imphal, March 20 2012: The Singjamei Polo Club (SPC) after defeating Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC-B) lifted the champion's trophy of the the XXII Governor's Cup Invitation Polo Tournament-2012 organised by Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association (MHRPA) at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.

In the keenly contested final match, SPC beat MPSC-B 5-4 .

S Abungcha of MPSC scored two goals in the second and third chukker of the match while his teammates H Abung Khuman and T Pradeepkumar scored one goal each in the first chukker.

On the other hand, M Doren of SPC scored two goals in the second chukker.

S Sadananda also scored two goals in the second and fourth chukker.

The fifth goal of SPC was scored by P Ojit in the fourth chukker.

SPC who won the tournament was awarded a cash prize of Rs 15,000 along with the trophy while runners up MPSC-B was awarded Rs 10,000 cash prize.

MHRPA also honoured veteran Polo players Khangembam Amuyaima, Elangbam Thanil, Senjam Mani, Maibam Samu and Konsam Apabi during the closing ceremony.
