Imphal, January 20 2013 : SSA, charangpat paid a heavy price for failing to convert nine of the penalty corners as Cosmo, Wangkhei coasted to a 2-1 victory in the opening match of the 14th Dr Kanti Mukherjee Memorial Invitation Hockey tournament at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium today.

Cosmo, who also got three penalty corners but failed to convert them into goals, hung onto its two first half goals scored by Kh Debeshwor (6th) and L Herojit (23rd) for a winning start to the 10-team competition, organised by Hockey Manipur.

M Dhananjoy scored the lone SSA goal in the 68th minute.
