Vijay Hazare Trophy : Manipur go down by 8 wickets in debut match

It was a sad start for Manipur team at Motibaug Cricket Ground, Vadodara in a Round-1 Plate fixture of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018-19 as they went down by 8 wickets against Poducherry.
Sent in to bat first, the State team who are making their debut in major tournament organised under the auspices of BCCI, stacked up a mere 120 runs for 10 in 37.1 overs against Poducherry whose bowling performance was of no match today, especially from Sagar P Udeshi who enjoyed a 4 wicket haul.
Lacklustre Manipur had a poor start as Bonny Chingangbam who came out with Lakhan Arjun Rawat as openers, was taken down by Sagar P Udeshi at the stroke of 4 runs in the 4th ball of the second over.
Lakhan Arjun Rawat then manned the crease for a while striking the highest of 29 runs for Manipur before he was scalped by Ashith in the first ball of the 11th over when the scoreboard read 43 .
Manipur crossed the 50 run mark at 14.3 overs before wickets fell in quick succession as Sagar V Trivedi and Sagar P Udeshi combined well to run through the batting line up reducing Manipur to 95 for 6 at drinks break.
Prafullomani scored 18 runs off 35 balls before he departed making way for Yaspal Singh who made a significant contribution of 29 runs in 66 balls.
Manipur's Hrithik Kanojia (2), Priyojit K (5), Akshaykumar (7), Homendro (0), William (7), RK Rex (3) and William (10 not out) also played their part to make it 120 with another 10 extras at the end of the innings.
Sagar P Udeshi and Sagar V Trivedi were simply amazing today as they claimed 4 and 3 wickets each in this innings while his compatriot Ashith took two wickets and Abhishek Nayar struck a single.
In response, Poducherry reached the target at the cost of two wickets in 25.3 overs.
Rohit DC made a good start registering 30 runs before he was caught out by Akshaykumar facing Bishorjit's ball (13.1 over) .
Shashank Singh who was the opening partner remained unbeaten and managed 63 runs off 69 balls and helped cruise his team to a huge 8-wicket win.
Thalaivan Sargunam who came up after Rohit's place made a single before he fell prey to Bishorjit of Manipur.
Manipur will face Sikkim in the next match on September 20 .
