MFA-B emerge champions of Inter Village Football Tournament

Imphal, November 16 2019:
MFA-B, Khabam defeated HIYAI, Luwangsangbam by 6-5 goals in the final to win the title of the Inter Village Football Tournament organised by 69 Bn CRPF Mantripukhri under Civic Action Programme 2019-20 at Achanbigei Leikai Football ground, Imphal East.
The tournament organised on knock out basis since November 13 was participated 8 teams from nearby villages.
On the opening day matches, MFA-B, Khabam outlasted KYFA, Koirengei by 3-1 goals MFA-A edged out HUFA, Heingang by 2-1 goals to move into semi-finals.
NADO, Achanbigei won 4-1 against KLSC, Kontha Khabam in the third match staged on November 14 while HIYAI made it to the semis with a 4-1 win against One Club, Langthabal.
MFA-B made themselves through to the final with a 5-3 victory against NADO in the second semi-final staged yesterday as HIYAI earned the final spot beating MFA-A by 8-6 goals in the first semi-final staged earlier.
Indranath and Immerson were respectively awarded man of the match and man of the tournament, said a press note issued by PRO of 69 Bn CRPF.
The press note also added that, Omkar Nath Singh, Commandant of 69 Bn CRPF presided the closing ceremony of the tournament as chief guest in the presence of distinguished guests, K Nogin Singh, ex 2-IC CRPF and other officers of CRPF, SO's, Jawans, ladies, team supporters and spectators.
The chief guests also handed out trophies and medals to both the winners and runners up teams besides numerous sports items, mementoes, uniforms, footballs, nets, shinguards etc.

The chief guest also lauded the support staff, organising committee, teams who exhibited high level of discipline and professionalism and made the tournament a huge success.
He also highlighted the true sporting spirit among the peoples residing in the North East States, particularly Manipur and prayed the present and the growing generation carried forward the same spirt and bring laurels to the State and the Nation, the press note continued.
The chief guest also spoke highly of the other initiatives of 69 Bn CRPF under Civic Action Programme which benefited the poor and needy people in their deployment areas of Manipur.
They efforts were highly appreciated by local people and showed their willingness to support CRPF in their endeavour to bring best relationship between CRPF and civilian populace, it added.
CRPF will continue to organised such programmes in regular intervals in future and try to come up to the expectations of local populace, it continued.
