AMOFA, ESU victorious in 3rd AMFA Cup

Imphal, July 16 2024: All Moirang Football Association (AMOFA), Moirang and Eastern Sporting Union (ESU), Wangkhei Palace Compound registered victories today in the 3rd AMFA Cup being organised by the All Manipur Football Association at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.

AMOFA and Imphal FA started the 5th Group B match of the tournament cautiously and cancelled out one another until Singam Subash took two minutes into the added time before the break to put AMOFA ahead.

After the restart, the two sides kept exchanging runs as AMOFA looked to extend their lead while Imphal FA struggled to close out the lead.

After some close calls, AMOFA succeeded in breaking through the Imphal FA defence and doubled their advantage through Moirangthem Deepak in the 77th minute.

Imphal FA too had their chances to reduce the game but lack of finishing touch prevented them from getting on the scoresheet and eventually AMOFA, who had lost two of two outings, opened their winning account.

Later in the day, Eastern Sporting Union beat XI-Star SU, Akampat 1-0 for their first win in two matches having settled the first game in a goalless draw with UPAA, Kyamgei.

The lone goal that settled the issue was scored by Lamjingba Maibam in the 36th minute.
