Imphal, January 15 2022: Tonsen FC set up quarter final date with Anal Khunou YC as Riverlane edged out Kh/Khullen YC 3-2 to book a semi-final ticket in the 41st Chakpikarong Sub-Divisional Sporting Association Sports Meet Football being underway at Chakpikarong playground.

The first match (last 16 round) of the day witnessed Anal Khunou YC ride on Ningson double to overwhelm Rungchang YC 4-0 .

James drew first blood in the 23rd minute before Ningson had his way to score his first and team's second in the 29th minute.

Samual then carried forward the scoring spree with a goal in the 40th minute and Ningson capped the scoring four minutes latter as Rungchang YC who carved out a 4-1 win over Ch/Karong Bazar in their previous outing failed to trouble Anal Khunou YC's defence line throughout the game.

In another pre-quarter final clash, Tonsen FC who edged out Chakpikarong YC by a slender 1-0 margin in their previous tie showed an improved side to ease past Wakhuhrin YC 3-0 .

Peter Kom gave Tonsen FC a narrow 1-0 lead in the first half with a goal in the 29th minute and Basanta Kom doubled the lead in the 42nd minute before Stephen Kom hit the decisive goal in the 54th minute.

In the first quarter final match staged later in the day, Riverlane FC held off spirited Kh Khullen YC 3-2 to seal a place in the semi-finals.

Riverlane FC had a commanding start with HL Momin scoring the opener for Riverlane FC in the 11th minute before Thungwar doubled the lead in the 17th minute but Pollingson pulled back a goal for Kh Khullen YC in the 19th minute to make it 1-2 till the break.

After the restart, Kohmansing helped Riverlane FC retain the lead with his goal in the 42nd minute but Kh Khullen YC clawed back into the game with Pollingson scoring in the 52nd minute.

They however failed to pull level despite efforts and eventually Riverlane FC advanced into the next stage.
