Imphal, September 14 2024: One of world's best spikers, Manipur's own Yumnam Akash Singh is participating in the Sepak Takraw League (STL) 2024 being held in Malaysia from September 10 to November 17 .

Yumnam Akash was selected by the Negeri Sembilan Antlers team for the STL 2024 - a men's professional league organised by the Sepak Takraw Association of Malaysia in association with the International Sepak Takraw Federation (ISTAF) .

Yumnam Akash is son of Late Yumnam Nandababu and Yumnam Basanti of Laipham Khunou Mamang Leikai, Imphal East district.

He was bom on March 1, 1997 .

Yumnam Akash is ranked 5th in the ISTAF Ranking of best strikers/spikers.

He holds the record for fastest kick in the history of Sepak Takraw with a speed of 122 Km/hr, recorded at the 2015 ISTAF Championship.

Akash jumps as high as 8.5 feet on an average which makes the ball very difficult for opponents to block.

He has many medals in international and National level competitions.

Recently, he participated in the 2024 ISTAF Sepak Takraw World Cup in Malaysia and won a silver in the 37th Kings Cup Sepak Takraw World Championship 2024 held in Thailand.
