66th State Open Badminton Championships : Joel Khangembam seals U-9 boys singles title; Malemnganba vs Bidyasagar in men's singles final

Imphal, August 13 2022:
Shriyan Lairenmayum of IEDBA claimed the U-11 boys singles title as Bishnupur's Hemam Malemnganba set up men's singles title clash with Bidyasagar Salam in the ongoing 66th State Open Badminton Championships 2022.Shriyan won the final against Thokchom Yangba 21-14 21-18 in an all-Imphal East final today.
Meanwhile Bidyasagar Salam of IWDBA entered the men's singles final with a 21-7, 21 -6 thrashing of Kongthoujam Dingku of BDBA in the first semi-final match before Hemam Malemnganba of BDBA carved out a 21-10 20-22 21-17 win over Sirzeet Moirangthem of Imphal East in the other semi-final match.
The day also saw Joel Khangembam of IEDBA and Sarungbam Archana Devi, both of IEDBA clinching U-9 boys and U-9 girls singles titles.
In the U-9 boys singles final, Joel thumped Imphal West's Loitongbam Shannon 21-9 21-11 as Archana eased to a 21-2 21-9 win over Memita Khwairakpam in the U-9 girls singles final.
U-15 Boys singles title on the other hand went to Vemai Kyoveio of SDBA who beat TDBA's Saikhom Gung Singh 21-18 16-21 21-9 .
Hemam Malemnganba in the meantime clinched the U-17 boys singles title beating his compatriot Khwairakpam Amarjit Singh 21-13 21-14 in the final.
The final line up of other categories were also completed today.
Sirzeet Moirangthem vs Hemam Malemnganba in U-19 boys singles final
Sirzeet Moirangthem will be playing Hemam Malemnganba in the U-19 boys singles final.
Sirzeet made it to the final with a hard fought 17-21 21-12 26-24 win over Raj Kumar Alen Singh of Bishnupur in the first semi-final.
Malemnganba on the other hand booked the final ticket with a 21-8 21-16 win over Jomi Singam of Imphal East in another semifinal clash.
Ksh Maheswari vs Vilinda Huidrom in women's singles final
Ksh Maheshwari of IEDBA will face off against Vilinda Huidrom of IWDBA in the women's singles final.
Ksh Maheshwari cruised to a 21-10 21-14 win over Sagorika Naorem of KDBA to seal the final berth while Vilinda notched up hard fought 22-20 21-18 win over Anita Naorem in an all-Imphal West semi-final clash to complete the final line up.
Leonie Tayenjam vs Konsam Gunjan in U-15 girls, U-17 girls finals
Leonie Tayenjam of IWDBA will fight against Konsam Gunjan of IEDBA in the U-15 girls title clash.
Leonie sealed the final berth beating her compatriot Chirom Bellarix Devi 21-18 21-11 in the first semi-final match before Gunjan beat Laishram Nandita 21-4 21-11 in an all-Imphal East semifinal clash.
The duo are also set to fight it out for the U-17 girls singles title.
Gunjan sealed the final ticket in this category with an easy 21-4 21-1 win over IWDBA's Maibam Preeya while Leonie overwhelmed Laishram Nandita of Imphal East 21-9 21-14 to set up the final date with Gunjan.
L Diana vs M Priya in U-19 girls singles final
Leimapokpa Diana of IWDBA will lock horns with Moirangthem Priya of IEDBA in the U-19 girls singles final.
Diana entered the final with an easy 21-12 21-6 win over Mayanglambam Elina of KDBA while M Priya outlasted Sagorika Naorem of KBDA 21-10 21-9 in another semi-final match.
Doubles
In the U-17 boys doubles competition, IWDBA and BDBA duo Borish Salam and Brikson Long) am set up the final date with Maibram Bhairav and Maibram Brajamani of BDBA.
Borish and Brikson confirmed their place in the final with a 21-11 21-16 win over IW-IE duo of Evirich Sorokhaibam and Thoudam Debabrata 21-11 21-16.On the other hand, Maibram Bhairav and Maibram Brajamani won 21 -14 17-21 22-20 against the Kakching pair of Konjengbam Dayananda and Mayanglambam Bikash in the other semi-final match.
The IW-Bpr duo of Angita Naorem and Priya Konjengbam were crowned women's doubles champions as they overcame the IW duo of Prity Naorem and Wairokpam Seevani Chanu 21-5 21-7 in the final today.
Earlier in the semi-final clash, Anjita and Priya saw off KDBA-IWDBA pair Somibala Mayanglambam and Vilinda Huidrom 21-17 21 -14 to book the final ticket.
Mixed doubles title, in the meantime went to BDBA pair Konthoujam Dingku and Priya Konjenbam as they beat IW-IE pair of Thokchom Ronel and Moirangthem Priya 21-16 21-15 in the final match staged today.
