T Subol Memorial Cricket : CHAMP reach final with 21 run victory

Imphal, January 13 2019: CHAMP, Khagempalli sealed a 21-run victory against YWC, Langthabal at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Luwangsangbam today to set up final date with CYCLONE, Thangmeiband for the title of 3rd T Subol Memorial Veteran Cricket Tournament (T-20) being organised by Manipur Veteran Cricket Association.

Jodiba and Ratan produced fine batting performances to help CHAMP earn the final berth today.

CHAMP which won the toss opted to bat first and had a remarkable start with Jodiba hitting 42 runs off 28 balls and Ratan hitting a half century (58) in just 20 balls.

Tejbanta gather another 21 runs in 24 balls in this innings to help CHAMP post a total of 162 runs for 7 in 20 overs.

Sashikanta, Somananda and Rajesh picked up two wickets each in this innings for YWC, Langthabal.

In reply, Somananda blasted off 54 runs in 24 balls but his effort went in vain as his team were restricted at 141 runs for 7 in 20 overs.

Priyokumar (36 runs in 33 balls) and Kumarjit (17 runs in 22 balls) also contributed runs in YWC chase that fell short by 21 runs.

As for the CHAMP bowling, Jodiba were best among bowlers taking 2 wickets in his spell of 4 overs while Homeshor and Ibobi dismissed one each besides maintaining a perfect economy.

Jodiba of CHAMP was eventually named man of the match.
